URVI Foundation at INTBAU World Congress 2025 | London

“Stone Free Movement: Reviving Earth Architecture as a Global Solution in the Age of Climate Crisis”

The URVI Foundation proudly participated in the INTBAU World Congress 2025, held at the historic Chelsea Town Hall, London, with a breakout workshop titled
“Stone Free Movement: Reviving Earth Architecture as a Global Solution in the Age of Climate Crisis.”

In an era of rapid urbanisation and technological transformation, our session explored how traditional earth architecture can merge seamlessly with modern innovation to address global climate and material challenges. The discussion delved into techniques such as:

  • Rammed Earth & Poured Earth Panels
  • Junkob Construction Techniques
  • Rammed Earth with Dune Sand for Desert Regions
  • 3D Printing with Earth

This interactive and technical session brought together architects, researchers, and sustainability experts from over 40 countries, all engaging deeply in rethinking the role of the earth beneath our feet as a sustainable building resource. The enthusiasm and exchange reaffirmed a shared global belief — that the wisdom of the past holds the key to designing our future.

Representing Kerala on the Global Stage

We were honoured to represent Kerala, India, and present the Stone Free Movement — URVI Foundation’s long-term mission to protect land, climate, and biodiversity through responsible, earth-based, and community-driven architecture. The initiative, originally envisioned as Kerala’s survival plan, continues to inspire global dialogue on sustainability rooted in place-based knowledge.
